Throughout this pandemic, parents have been asked to step up and make decisions in unprecedented ways. That, of course, won’t change as the school year begins.
For those of us in New York State, Governor Cuomo will reveal state plans this week. Personally, our district plans on doing hybrid learning, and I’m doing my best not to completely freak out. So, like me, if you find yourself at home with your kids again, first, don’t despair you can do this. Mostly because you have to. I learned this spring that I’m a terrible school teacher, but I did learn that I can help guide my kids’ social and emotional learning along pretty nicely.
If you’re not the best teacher — and that’s OK! — know that you can help your kids learn in other ways. That’s why I loved this piece (below) by senior reporter Kelsey Borresen on the ways you can help your kid with their social skills even while remote learning.
Be safe and well everyone!
