Good morning,

Welcome to your daily news update from The Scotsman

We're almost at the Bank Holiday weekend, and - if you're lucky enough to have the time off - you might be wondering what you could get up to.

Just make sure you are aware of the latest advice from Scottish Mountain Rescue and plan accordingly.

'I've already got a sports car'

That's how actor turned London Mayoral candidate Laurence Fox responded to a ‘mid-life crisis’ comment from Ruth Davidson, put to him by our reporter Hannah Brown

Mr Fox revealed he does not believe racism is a 'huge issue' in Scotland, and when asked if two white men were the answer to tackling racism he responded: "That's racist."

The 42-year-old, who is anti-lockdown and backed by Nigel Farage, was visiting Scotland on the campaign trail for his newly-established party Reclaim and supporting political comedian Leo Kearse, running in Glasgow.

10 things people think are typically Scottish, which actually aren't

A bit of fun for your Friday. We asked our readers what things are thought of as typically Scottish, but actually aren’t.

Have a great weekend, more stories below,
