No late-night outings at bars or restaurants allowed in Minnesota, starting this Friday. Five months after reopening indoor dining and bars in Minnesota, Gov. Tim Walz has started reimposing COVID-19 restrictions, ordering bars and restaurants to close by 10 p.m. starting Friday.

New restrictions include:

  • bars and eateries ending in-person service at 10 p.m.

  • no bar seating or counter service

  • limits on standing games such as darts and pool

  • takeout and delivery will still be allowed after 10 p.m.

  • 50-person limits and a 10 p.m. shutdown for social gatherings like wedding receptions starting Nov. 27

  • private gatherings limited to 10 people from no more than three households.

To help soften the economic blow of the new restrictions, Walz also announced $10 million in state grants to small businesses to help them pay bills and workers.
