Ahmed brings more than 20 years of experience in the media and events industry to the role, having led global events for brands such as Informa, Reed Exhibitions, Cannes Lions and Money 20/20. Most recently, Ahmed was the CEO and co-founder of the Virtual Events Institute (VEI), a platform designed to bring virtual and hybrid communities together to share best practices and spark innovation.
CHICAGO: Pixar Putt, an open-air mini-golf experience, is slated to pop up in Chicago on May 28. All 18 holes feature fun, interactive elements inspired by Disney and Pixar’s beloved stories, characters, and icons, including Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo and Coco, just to name a few. Co-presented by Rockefeller Productions and TEG Life Like Touring, the golf course will be at the Polk Bros Navy Pier through Aug. 21, and tickets are now on sale via Pixar Putt’s website, starting at $27.50.
In honor of May as Mental Health Awareness Month, the Small Business Advocacy Council (SBAC) and Safe Haven are hosting “Rebound on the Rooftop” on SBAC’s rooftop on Clark Street on May 11 at 6 p.m. The evening of fundraising and celebration will honor the work of both organizations, and funds will support the homeless population and advocate for the small business community by encouraging homeless individuals to get jobs at small businesses, which are struggling to find employees. Aspiring attendees can register for the event on SBAC’s website or make a monetary donation to help support the event’s mission.
MAUI, HI.: The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa shared their new Vow to Wow package that includes a three-day itinerary for destination weddings. Day one features an intimate couple’s helicopter ride and a rehearsal dinner for 100–200 guests; day two includes an ocean view wedding ceremony and reception complete with a photographer and videographer (an after-party is available for an additional $10,000); while day three concludes the package with a farewell brunch overlooking the ocean. Pricing for the Vow to Wow package starts at $125,000 and increases to $135,000 if a couple wishes to reserve the presidential suite for the length of their stay. Wedding add-ons are an additional $10,000 and include a build-your-own slider station, dip bar, wok-and-roll-build-a-bowl station and more.
MIAMI: Nebula, a nightclub in New York City, is heading to Miami to host a four-day pop-up May 5-9 to coincide with the city’s F1 racing event, taking place May 8. The nightlife experience will be part of Racing Fan Fest in Wynwood, an activation presented by Swarm and Us Weekly, and will feature a merch store, cocktails from partner E11EVEN Vodka, VR racing simulators courtesy of AT&T, Nebula’s nightly takeover with a performance by DJ Alesso, and more. All activities are free, and aspiring attendees can register via Eventbrite.
