NATIONAL: Event and experience marketing agency George P. Johnson (GPJ) has acquired a significant minority stake in one of its long-term partners, full-service video agency NOMOBO. The investment allows GPJ to expand its cinematic approach to virtual and hybrid events by creating high-quality productions that make broadcasts part of the overall experience design, rather than just an add-on.

The Events Industry Council has officially launched the first phase of its Equity Acceleration Plan, which includes a survey to determine the current state of diversity, equity and inclusion across the event industry. The results will inform the development of tools, resources and recommendations in the subsequent phases of the plan, aiming to provide a framework for addressing discrimination and systemic racism in the industry. The survey is available here until Oct. 15.

LOS ANGELES: The soon-to-open Hyatt Place/Hyatt House LAX will feature five new meeting spaces with two chef-driven culinary concepts focused on bringing healthy gourmet dining to the area. A larger meeting space can be broken in two, with the Melrose room seating 80 or holding 120 for receptions and the Malibu room seating 40 or holding 60 for receptions.

NEW YORK: Pendry Manhattan West has officially opened, marking the brand's first hotel in New York City.
