Elijah Mitchell might just end up going down as the top waiver-wire add of the season if he keeps this up. Mitchell racked up 133 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries in Week 12, his second game in a row with 27 carries, and he added five catches for 35 yards for good measure last week. And it's that workload that makes him Jamey Eisenberg's pick for Start of the Week with Week 13's matchup against the Seahawks looming. |
You can read more about why Jamey Eisenberg says Mitchell is a must-start player in his full Start 'Em & Sit 'Em column here, and in the rest of today's newsletter, I'm highlighting some of Jamey's favorite start calls and some of the players he'd rather keep on the bench for each position: |
|
|
Start 'Em: Matthew Stafford and Derek Carr |
"Stafford might be playing with an injured back, ankle and elbow, but he was a great Fantasy quarterback in Week 12 at Green Bay with 28 points. I'm counting on him to have another solid showing this week against the Jaguars at home. He's scored at least 23 Fantasy points in four of five home games this year, including three outings with at least 30 points, and this is a get-right game for the Rams after losing three in a row. Stafford has top-five upside in this matchup." |
Sit 'Em: Ben Roethlisberger and Jimmy Garoppolo |
"Roethlisberger regressed in Week 12 at Cincinnati when he scored 10 Fantasy points after scoring at least 20 Fantasy points in each of his previous two outings against the Bears and Chargers. The Ravens have held two of the past three quarterbacks to 18 Fantasy points or less, and Roethlisberger was held to 19 Fantasy points and 14 Fantasy points in two meetings with Baltimore last season. He's only a two-quarterback and Superflex league option in this matchup." |

|
Start 'Em: Alexander Mattison and Antonio Gibson |
"It stinks that Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is hurt, but the Vikings should get by with Mattison. And Fantasy managers with Mattison on their roster should be excited. He started two games for Cook already this season in Week 3 against Seattle and Week 5 against Detroit, and he scored at least 22 PPR points in both outings. Against the Lions, Mattison had 25 carries for 113 yards, along with seven catches for 40 yards and a touchdown on seven targets. He'll be involved in all facets of the game -- like Cook -- and he has top-three upside in all leagues." |
Sit 'Em: Rhamondre Stevenson and Tevin Coleman |
"I'm staying away from all the Jets running backs this week, which means you should bench Coleman, Ty Johnson and Austin Walter. One might do something of significance, but it's hard to trust any of them. Last week against Houston, in the first game without Michael Carter (ankle), Coleman (45 percent), Johnson (34 percent) and Walter (24 percent) all got in on the action. Coleman had 18 total touches (two catches) for 70 total yards, Walter had nine carries for 38 yards and a touchdown and Johnson had six carries for 42 yards. That was a game the Jets won, so they had the luxury of giving 31 carries to their backfield. I don't expect the same thing to happen against the Eagles , and Coleman is just a flex play at best in most leagues, with Johnson and Walter more desperation options in deeper formats." |

|
Start 'Em: Marquise Brown and DeVonta Smith |
"Brown returned in Week 12 against Cleveland from a one-game absence with a thigh injury and had 10 targets for eight catches and 51 yards. It was a respectable 13 PPR points, but we've come to expect more from the third-year breakout receiver. He hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 7, so he's due. And he's got a good track record against the Steelers with three touchdowns in four career meetings. Pittsburgh has also allowed three receivers to score at least 20 PPR points in the past two games." |
Sit 'Em: Mike Williams and Kenny Golladay |
"I hope Williams proves me wrong for this posting and has a tremendous game this week, but it's hard to trust him given his recent lack of success. He's scored seven PPR points or less in five of his past six games, and he's had six targets or less in five of those outings. He started the season scoring at least 22 PPR points in four of his first five games, but he's mostly disappeared since then. He's still worth using as a starter in three-receiver leagues, but he's no longer a must-start option in most formats." |
|
|
Start 'Em: Logan Thomas |
"Thomas had the shake the rust off game in Week 12 against Seattle after being out for six games with a hamstring injury. He finished with three catches for 31 yards on six targets, and he should have had a touchdown in the fourth quarter that was overturned by replay. This week, he's facing a Raiders defense that has allowed eight touchdowns to tight ends in their past eight games. Thomas is worth trusting as a top-10 Fantasy tight end in all leagues." |
Sit 'Em: Dalton Schultz |
"Schultz is getting a lot of company with CeeDee Lamb (concussion) and Amari Cooper (COVID-19) back in action after both were out in Week 12 against the Raiders. The last time we saw Lamb, Cooper and Michael Gallup all active was Week 10 against Atlanta, and Schultz had one catch for 14 yards on two targets. He could be the odd man out, and it's also a tough matchup against the Saints, who are No. 10 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to tight ends for the season. Schultz is only worth starting in deeper leagues this week." |

|
Start 'Em: Dolphins vs. NYG |
"The Dolphins defense has been amazing of late, and they should make things tough on the Giants this week. It has allowed 17 points or less in four games in a row, with 16 sacks, seven interceptions and three fumbles over that span. This should be another favorable matchup against the Giants, who have either an injured Daniel Jones (neck) starting or backup Mike Glennon. And the Giants have scored 17 points or less in three of their past four games." |
Sit 'Em: Bears vs. ARI |
"I liked the Bears DST last week with the matchup against the Lions. This week, Fantasy managers should find another DST option because of the matchup against the Cardinals, who are expected to have Kyler Murray (ankle) and DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) back. Prior to both missing the past three games, the Cardinals had scored at least 31 points in six of their first seven games. Arizona also had just six turnovers over that span. The Bears DST could be overwhelmed in this matchup and is not worth starting in most leagues." |
