Why are gas prices skyrocketing? And who's buying the most medical marijuana?

By Bob Warren

Sticker shock: If you’ve stopped at the gas pump in the last few days, we’re gonna tell you something you already know: Filling the tank is getting more expensive. AAA tells us the average per-gallon price around south Louisiana jumped 16-17 cents in just one day last week and is up 50 cents over the past week.

Who's holding? We tracked some medical marijuana data and thought you might be interested to learn which parishes have the highest percentage of people who have bought legal marijuana. In our metro, St. Tammany's at the top.

Payroll questions: A city of Kenner investigation shows instances where investigators say a top official appears to have falsified pay records. Faimon Roberts has the latest on this continuing story.

Don we now our green apparel: The St. Patrick’s Day parades across the area were the first to really feel the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic, cancelling their rolls in 2020 and 2021. Good news: The parades are back this year - and they start this weekend. Really. So if you're not paraded out (and we know you're not), head out to the route. Somebody has to snag all those cabbages.

Speaking of . . . there were a couple of pooch parades over the weekend on the north shore. Check out the pix - they're, uh, pawsome. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Hoped you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line newsletter. Thanks for taking a break with us.
