Hi,
I hope you are doing well.
You're probably tired of me saying this, but it's worth repeating.
The world is changing faster than we ever thought possible!
That includes the art world too.
If you had told me back in January that galleries would be forced to close their doors indefinitely, or that our members would be on track to double their online sales through FASO this year, I would have thought you were crazy. But here we are.
Just like any big change in the world, this change has had it's fair share of winners and losers. What I've noticed is that the artists who are really doing well seem to have two things in common.
The first is a recognition and willingness to change their approach to marketing and selling their art in order to quickly adapt to the times.
Artists like FASO member Mark Coombe, for example, are connecting in new and engaging ways with their collectors through videos, Facebook Live events, and Zoom exhibitions. Something they would have never considered doing before the world went topsy-turvy.
The second thing they all seem to have in common is a willingness to learn from others who know what they're doing. Learning from experts, it seems, is a key factor in their ability to adapt quickly.
Finding the right learning opportunities isn't easy though. Unfortunately, the world is full of so-called "marketing experts" who are willing to take your money and let you blame yourself when their advice doesn't work.
I hear stories all the time from artists who have wasted thousands of dollars on books, courses, conferences, and coaches that never delivered. It just breaks my heart.
That's why I'm always on the lookout for great learning opportunities that can help our amazing community of visual artists succeed. And I've got one to share with you that I think you're going to love.
If you haven't heard of The Clark Hulings Fund (CHF), then you're in for a real treat. They are an incredible resource for visual artists with a wonderful story about how they got started (and you know how much I love a good story!).
I highly encourage you to check out the full version of their story, but here's the short version. They are on a mission to help visual artists succeed by mastering the business side of art. They do this by providing affordable and expert online learning opportunities to artists everywhere.
If their mission sounds eerily familiar, it's no coincidence. When I first met Daniel Digriz, their Director of Education, and the rest of their amazing team something just seemed to click. Working with them just felt right.
But I'm cautious when it comes to protecting the people that I care about. So before we went much farther in our discussion, I invited Dan to join me as special guest on one of our first AMP webinars on storytelling.
The webinar was wonderfully received by our members and convinced me that we needed to work more closely together. That moment of realization reminded me of that scene in the movie Back to the Future when Doc Brown comes up with his idea for the time machine.
So imagine how excited I was when Dan's team reached out to let me know about an online conference they were launching to help visual artists adapt to this brave new world of ours. I nearly did a somersault!
It's called the Virtualize Your Art Career™ Conference and it starts this Monday, October 19th through Friday, October 30th. It's two weeks chockful of amazing sessions designed to help you adapt and thrive in today's art world and led by the experts at CHF.
So you might be wondering why I think you should sign up for this conference. After all, there are so many learning opportunities out there. What makes this one so special?
Well, it boils down to this:
Can you see why I'm so excited for you to attend this amazing event? Here's the crazy thing, though. I've left the best parts for last. You see, this conference includes:
You might want to read that last bullet a second time. I know it's hard to believe that you're getting all this for just $200, but it's true!
I think it's time for me to do my happy dance again.
And when you really think about it, it's a small price to pay considering what you'll be learning and how it will make you feel. Artists I know who have worked with CHF have told me the experience made them feel:
