Time Out No. #64 | Tuesday 1 February 2022

Ooh, February. True, it’s shorter than your average month. But let’s not hold that against it. What it lacks in days, it more than makes up for in London fun. Hopefully you’ve scrimped, saved and suffered your way through January (dry or otherwise) and are now free to cut loose and enjoy the city to the fullest. Bob Marley! Costa Rica! James McAvoy! And loads more besides.

How do you go out? Tell us!

Weeks-in-advancer or leave-it-to-chancer? We want to know how you plan your social life. So whether you’ve got your next six months sorted or you’ll see what looks good when you wake up on Saturday, fill in this poll to help us help you.

Three old-school central London boozers

It’s rare that you can find a multi-season pub: one that will keep you cosy but not cramped through the brisk winter months, while still having large courtyard space to drink in the sun come the summer. This spot does both extremely well.

An iconic Soho boozer, not least because of its regular cockney singalongs. Grab a Guinness, then gather round the piano to belt out a peculiar mix of West End showtunes and Oasis bangers with a merry bunch of boozehounds.

Like something out of a Patrick Hamilton novel, The Duke is an elegantly wasted timewarp to the 1930s – all art deco mirrors, mahogany booths and the lingering feeling that maybe you’ve ended up in an episode of 1990s bigamy-based sitcom ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’. Bottoms up!

It’ll only take a few minutes. Seeing as you’re here, and not exactly wherever you probably should be, take the time out to do something restorative. AIRE is a wellness company, and it has sorted a virtual relaxation experience that just takes a couple clicks. Easy.

Eighteen months ago, the idea of a brand-new gallery popping up didn’t just seem unlikely, it felt impossible. But now 2022 is here (and the virus appears to be fading), and a whole host of new museums (new!) are flinging open their doors for the very first time. Here are eight of the most exciting openings of the year.
