BRSO-Quarterly Sondernewsletter Livestream: Sir Simon Rattle Seit Corona das Konzertleben arg beeinträchtigt, versuchen Dirigenten wie Simon Rattle aus den begrenzten Möglichkeiten das Beste herauszuholen: Er stellt Werke vor, die im »normalen« Konzertbetrieb wegen ihrer kleinen Besetzungen nur sehr selten gespielt werden: Brahms’ Serenade in A-Dur mit dem schwelgerischen Adagio, das an Clara Schumann gerichtet war, gilt als bedeutende Vorstufe zu seinem Symphonieschaffen. Lorin Maazel hat das Werk zuletzt vor über zwanzig Jahren in seinem Brahms-Zyklus dirigiert. Haydns Symphonie Nr. 90 wurde vom Orchester sogar noch nie gespielt und erhält nun genau den richtigen historisch-informierten Rahmen. Und Strawinskys kurze Symphonies d’instruments a vent, die er 1920 im Andenken an Claude Debussy schrieb, richten den Fokus ausschließlich auf die Bläser des BRSO.
