Friday 16 April 2021 Mayor's MessageYesterday, I officially opened the Leatherback Park Pavilion in Alkimos. The $1.78 million Leatherback sporting facility delivers modern amenities for local sporting groups and their members. It will help meet the need for more sporting facilities in the City’s northern corridor to cater for our rapidly growing population, and give our residents access to facilities that encourage healthy, active lifestyles and community spirit. The park is a shared use oval with Alkimos Beach Primary School and will be used by the Alkimos Pirates Lacrosse Club, Alkimos Ball Club, Brighton Seahawks Football Club and West Perth District Football. The park features a bicycle education track, a multi-purpose playing field suitable for playing a number of sports including AFL and cricket, change rooms, storerooms, toilets, an umpire and first aid room, kitchen and kiosk facilities and a multi-purpose room. I look forward to seeing families and individuals come together and enjoy the surrounds at Leatherback Park. From Monday 3 May, all general waste bins will receive a new red lid.
