I need help around the house

Q:

With all the scams and crooks online, how do I find a reliable handyman to help me with some projects around the house? I can't afford to get ripped off.

A:

You've come to the right place. Spotting scams is harder than ever, and you can't trust Google results or many of the apps and sites out there that list home pros.

I've been using Angi, a sponsor of my national radio show, and I can't get over how easy it is to find the right person for any project. You can search through thousands of qualified pros right there in the app and read through real reviews left by real users. I used it to find a new landscaper, and I couldn't be happier.

To try it yourself, download the Angi app.

Download for Apple iOS here.

Drowning in all these resumes

Q:

I need to hire someone, but I can barely manage all the resumes I get when I post a job online. I stick to the free sites to save cash, but I'm feeling like that's the wrong move. Any advice?

A:

You can attract a lot of candidates on those sites, but as you've found, you won't necessarily get the right ones. It's a ton of work sorting through all of that! You might not even find anyone who fits the job.

When I'm hiring, I use LinkedIn Jobs. It can help by matching your role with qualified candidates so you can find the right person quickly. LinkedIn screens for skills and you can use a ton of different tools to narrow down your search. That means so much less work on your end.

Right now, you can post a job for FREE at LinkedIn.com/Kim.

Using GoodRx with Medicare

Q:

This morning you sent an email touting GoodRx. I am sure it saves a lot of people some change, but since I have Medicare coverage I cannot use their coupons.

A:

Now, this isn't quite a question, but I knew I needed to address it. You can use GoodRx! To be clear, GoodRx can’t be used in combination with Medicare, but it can be used in place of Medicare. And depending on your medication and pharmacy, you may end up with a cheaper price using GoodRx instead.

With GoodRx, you can find discounts up to 80% for your prescriptions at over 70,000 pharmacies, like CVS, Kroger, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Vons and Walmart.

Go to GoodRx.com/Kim and start saving up to 80% on your prescriptions today!
