John Bel Edwards today pardoned a central figure from a civil rights case involving Jim Crow laws from the 1800s. Homer Plessy had been convicted of sitting in a Whites-only section of a train. The U.S. Supreme Court used the case in 1896 to declare that "separate but equal" laws were constitutional. The rest, you could say, is history. Oldest vet dies The oldest remaining veteran from World War II has died in New Orleans. Lawrence Brooks was 112. We have details here.
