Historic Drop: Soybeans' $1 Fall Hits New Record

Dangerous heat is continuing across portions of the West and the Plains with record-breaking temperatures and wildfires.

Soybean prices saw the largest single-day drop in history on Thursday. Prices crashed vigorously, with July and August soybeans down more than $1 on Thursday. This tops any one-day record for a deferred contract.

Futures on the federal funds rate, which track short-term interest rate expectations, on Wednesday raised bets that the U.S. Federal Reserve will tighten monetary policy in early 2023 after Fed projections showed at least two rate increases that year.
