Good evening,

Street Talk has the skinny on HMC Capital’s executive restructure.

Sources told this column the real estate and alternatives manager is set to announce former UBS energy and utilities head and senior QIC infrastructure dealmaker Angela Karl as the head of its new energy transition investment team.

Street Talk reported that Karl took a sabbatical from QIC last year after more than 11 years with the infrastructure giant. There, she was a key player in building out QIC’s energy portfolio, both as a partner and a member of the investment committee.

Karl is also on the board of Tilt Renewables, after helping to establish the electricity generator in 2016, and QIC’s remote power play Pacific Energy.

Chief operating officer Sid Sharma flagged an executive team restructure at its Health Co briefing on Tuesday to set HMC up to double assets under management to $20 billion. Sources said this includes establishing a new energy transaction platform under Karl, among other new sectors, which it will reveal to shareholders at Tuesday’s half-year results briefing.
