New HMCTS podcast on accessibility Weve released our latest Inside HMCTS Podcast episode, focussing on how were making courts and tribunals accessible for all and how we support people to use our online services. You can hear about how we're removing barriers to ensure people can access justice at an equal level, as well as our work to make the historic Royal Courts of Justice more accessible. Additional court capacity in London To provide ongoing additional court capacity in London, we are extending the use of Barbican Nightingale court, which houses two Crown Court rooms, until August 2025. We have also started a project to convert existing space at Southwark Crown Court into an additional courtroom, enabling further movement of work across London. Increase in selected court and tribunal fees The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has published its response to a consultation on plans to increase selected court and tribunal fees to reflect inflation. The fee increases will impact civil, magistrates and family courts, the Probate Registry, Court of Protection and Tribunals. They are expected to come into effect in May 2024. Justice in Numbers Pocketbook MoJ have published the latest 'Justice in Numbers' information, detailing performance statistics across the justice system, including Crown Court, Magistrates' Court and Civil, Family and Tribunal disposal figures. |
