2023 Communications and Engagement Survey Deadline extended for our communications survey We've extended the deadline for you to complete our 2023 Communications and Engagement Survey. We want to find out what you think about the way we communicate and engage with you. This will help us understand how you access our information, what works well now and how we can improve. The survey will now close on 11 August 2023 and should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Communications survey â Welsh language version For Welsh speakers there is a Welsh language version of the 2023 Communications and Engagement Survey. This is also open for responses until 11 August. One year anniversary of TV cameras in Crown Court Friday 28 July marks the one-year anniversary since the first TV broadcast of sentencing remarks from the Old Bailey. Understanding cyber security threats The National Cyber Security Centre published a Cyber Threat to Legal Sector Report to help law firms, lawyers and legal practices understand the current cyber security threats, and the extent to which the legal sector is being targeted.  |

Single Justice Service Reminder: Essex Police using Common Platform for Single Justice Procedure traffic cases Essex Police are now using Common Platform to prosecute traffic cases through the Single Justice Procedure. The procedure is already available for police forces across England and Wales, with the majority of cases handled through our legacy system Libra and defendants able to plea online via the âMake a Pleaâ platform. As part of our plans to create a more efficient and streamlined justice service, these cases have now moved to Common Platform. The service allows defendants of low level, summary only, non-imprisonable offences such as speeding or driving without insurance to enter a plea online. Cases are then reviewed by a single magistrate, aided by a legal adviser. Free mediation for thousands of small claims Thousands of people will be automatically referred to access free mediation sessions to resolve disputes away from court when it becomes a requirement for small civil claims values up to £10,000. HMCTS Payment by Account for online services Legal professionals using the MyHMCTS platform to pay a claim issue fee for the Damages Claims and Online Civil Money Claims services can now do so by card or through Pay by Account (PBA). |
