Honey Badger mode

Happy Friday, and welcome to the Sept. 27 edition of the Saints Insider newsletter.

We are two days away from the Saints’ road game against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Here’s a look at our stories from Thursday.

Mathieu turns back clock

Safety Tyrann Mathieu has a takeaway in four straight games. It’s reminiscent of how Mathieu played in his Honey Badger days at LSU. I talked to Mathieu’s younger teammates, who reflected on what it was like growing up being a Honey Badger fan.

Cam Jordan’s diminished role

Cam Jordan will go down as one of the greatest players in Saints’ history. But his role is diminishing, which was evident by how few snaps he played Sunday against the Eagles. Jordan spoke to the media about it Thursday. Click here to read Matt Paras story about what Jordan had to say.

Helping the Big 3?

The Saints’ offense has featured mostly plays for Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. Luke Johnson writes about if there is a need to get more people involved.

Replacing McCoy

Replacing a Pro Bowl center like Erik McCoy won’t be easy. There’s not a lot of time to figure it out.  Also, Landon Young will have to do his part to help as the Saints’ reshuffle the deck on the offensive line.

Some good news

Here was some much needed good news this week. The Saints’ most important offensive weapon returned to practice. Here is the injury report from the latest practice.

That’s all for today. Be sure to go to www.nola.com today for more updates. Also, we’ll record an episode of The Saints Insider podcast today previewing Sunday's game. So make sure you’re subscribed to our Saints Insider YouTube channel.

As always, thanks for reading.
