Dear Reader, In Jewish tradition, the turning of the year is a time of renewal. As the son of Holocaust survivors, I have always been challenged by this idea of a clean slate. How can we grow, and how can we renew ourselves, without reflecting on the past? As this High Holiday season begins, I feel this more acutely than ever. I have always concerned myself with legacy, but it has never felt more important to learn from our history. For 125 years, the Forward has been the home of independent news reporting, bold cultural coverage, and steadfast engagement with the American Jewish community. Today, as this Jewish year comes to a close, I’m asking you to help us power another 125 years of the Forward — into 5783, and far beyond. |
Reader, our ability to provide the courageous, independent coverage you trust depends on the generosity of readers like you.In honor of this season of reflection and renewal, donate today so that we can continue to benefit from the wisdom of those who came before us — and bring that forward into the year to come. |
Chag Sameach and Shana Tova! With gratitude, |
Alan Silberstein Chair, Board of Directors The Forward P.S. If you have recently given by mail, please accept our deepest thanks. |
