I remember sitting with a young girl at summer camp as she told me her story of trauma, and all I could think was, I am in over my head. It wasn’t enough to give her a Bible verse and send her on her way. We needed some extra help, and I knew that it was crucial to her healing that she find a good counselor who knew the ins and outs of her situation.
As instances of suicide, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges continue to spike, how is the church being equipped to handle the needs of our congregants? And at what point will we call for reinforcements? Ministering to youth requires more teamwork than ever before.
“Who Will Help Gen Z With Anxiety, Depression, Suicide? Youth Pastors Turn to Counseling” is a look at how needed these important relationships are. When I think of the upcoming generations, I want them to not only be hopeful but to be healed. I’m so grateful for the words of Lanie Anderson this week, and I hope that they will spur us on to know the best ways to care for the young women we disciple.
