New beer alert! In addition to Hoplite IPA, we have limited amount of Lychee Hoplite on tap.
This batch of Hoplite was dry hopped with Amarillo, Belma, and Columbus. Dank, earthy, and piney with notes of grapefruit and a slight bitterness. Pints, bottles, and growlers are available now.
Also on tap, Lychee adds big floral/honey notes to Hoplite. Available for pours and growlers only, no bottles. Lychee Hoplite is available now in extremely limited quantities while it lasts.
On Thursday 6/6, we will be launching a brand new Cryptic sour!
RISE is a 4% Kvass-style sour ale that is not quite like anything else we've done before.
Kvass is a traditional Slavic and Baltic fermented beverage made from rye bread. The color of the bread creates the color of the kvass. Typically below 1% ABV and sometimes considered a non alcoholic beverage.
With RISE, we drew inspiration from this old world tradition by creating a mash bill consisting of 150 pounds of rye bread, 30 pounds of raisins, and enough Pilsner malt to achieve 4% ABV.
A lot of breweries have made kvass inspired sour ales, and this is our take. Rather than a mixed culture, we decided to do a sour mash with rye bread from Blackberry Bakery in Londonderry, NH. This allowed the flavors of the bread and raisins more time to absorb into the resulting beer. We are thrilled to share the final product.
RISE has a slightly funky, earthy aroma and mostly smells like the bread used in the mash. A firm tartness is followed by huge notes of grapefruit juice, orange juice, raisins, and spicy rye bread. RISE is crisp and has a lightly hazy appearance from the bread. This beer is clean, and ready for the Summer months.
We brewed this beer solely to satisfy our curiosity as brewers, and hope you love it as much as we do. We hope you appreciate our homage to the tradition that is deeply rooted in this style. We’re excited to continue to brew more of this style in the future!
Bottles and draft of RISE will be available Thursday. No growlers.
