Significant updates have emerged over the weekend, including deeply troubling report with devastating details about the six hostages who were brutally murdered in a tunnel in Rafah at the end of August (Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Ori Danino, Alex Lobanov, Carmel Gat, and Almog Sarusi). They were used as human shields for Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, forced to survive for months on nothing but energy bars until they were executed. They were too weak to be moved when Sinwar fled. At the moment, Israel is simultaneously engaged in two distinct efforts to secure the release of hostages still held by Hamas. One proposed deal could lead to the release of five hostages in exchange for a ceasefire lasting two weeks. Tensions with Iran grow stronger. Reports have surfaced that US intelligence on Israel’s planned strike against Iran was allegedly leaked online by a pro-Iran Telegram account. This leak has complicated Israel’s strategy and added further volatility to an already fragile situation. We at Zaka Tel-Aviv continue to do everything we can to support the people of Israel during these dangerous times. Your support is needed now more than ever to help us continue our critical work. |
