General Assembly – we meet in Berlin, 21-24 March!

Dear Basic Income Advocates,

As some of you already know our next European meeting will take place in Berlin, 21 - 24 March 2019.

We will welcome early arriving folks on Wednesday, 20 March at the monthly "Berlin Basic Income Beer" meeting, this time hopefully at a surprise new location. On Thursday evening we will organise a public debate "Basic Income Experiments – the road forward or a dead end?" At the General Assembly on Saturday we will elect a new UBIE board and discuss our priorities for the coming year. On Sunday, there will be workshops on our upcoming European Elections campaign and on the planned new European Citizens' Initiative.

What is a basic income? Animation now in English!

A freshly translated cool animation video from the Spanish basic income network explains why Basic Income is an effective measure against poverty which also gives us the capacity to lead more dignified lives.

Did Finland’s basic income experiment succeed or fail?

Finland’s experiment has the first results and, contrary to the headlines over the world, it has valuable and positive inputs for our understanding of its consequences. The second part of the data on labour market effects will only be available in 2020. Basic Income and the European Elections 2019

In November 2018, a public conference in Budapest debated how to get Basic Income into the public consciousness by taking advantage of the upcoming European Elections in May 2019.

Eurodividend conference at the University of Freiburg

In October 2018, about 50 participants from social sciences and the Basic Income movement all over Europe met to discuss the Euro-Dividend as sociopolitical pillar of the EU and its member countries.

UBI-Nordic 2019: Visions for a Brighter Future

The next annual Nordic Basic Income Conference will take place at Chateau Neuf in Oslo, 5-7 April 2019. It's main purpose will be this time to discuss what the implementation of a basic income would look like in the Nordic countries.
