House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Thursday that Democrats will begin drafting articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump [Washington Post].


Trump dares Democrats

President Trump said on Twitter that if Democrats are going to impeach him, they should "do it now, fast, so we can have a fair trial in the Senate" [ABC News].


About those Giuliani phone calls

The Trump administration is disputing some of the details about calls between Rudy Giuliani and White House aides during key moments in the Ukraine scandal. Trump's allies say the phone numbers Giuliani called belong to a generic White House switchboard, so it's impossible to know who he was calling [RealClear Politics].

Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden tangles with a voter in Iowa who falsely claimed Biden sent his son to work in Ukraine [New York Times].


Turning up the heat on Trump

North Korea threatens to resume calling President Trump a "dotard" if he keeps using provocative language, such as referring to leader Kim Jong Un as "rocket man" [AP].


Middle East

The Pentagon is considering sending thousands of more troops to the region to deter military action by Iran [CNN].
