The act of nurturing is one of the most basic human instincts, but for artist Carla Ruffino, this impulse led to one of her most meaningful compositions. For, in seeking to provide a space for her family that offered more than just shelter, a transformative personal experience of creative expression – spurred on by a bold confidence that saw no detail untouched by her artistic intention – resulted in a living work of art that glows with warmth and soul. Yet this seminal piece very nearly failed to launch. “In 2020, when I first saw the house online, the photos didn’t do it justice, so I almost didn’t come to look at it,” says Carla, whose first impressions were quickly flipped. |
