THROUGH THE ROOF: Mortgage broker Britt Tate spends his days helping people line up loans to buy a house, so he keeps a close watch on how inflation, rising interest rates and other factors affect buyers. Even so, Tate was stunned when he crunched the numbers recently to estimate how much more it costs to buy a house in the New Orleans area today compared to a year ago.
JET SET: New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is planning to fly to Argentina to attend a climate summit in Buenos Aires, her second overseas trip this month and fourth since June. The Buenos Aires journey, for the C40 World Mayors Summit, is likely to spark criticism from detractors and the campaign to recall her from office.
BIG WHEEL: If there was ever any doubt that Antoine Dominique Domino Jr. was gonna be a wheel someday, it vanished Saturday when friends, relatives and fans of the late rock ‘n’ roll pioneer celebrated the renaming of the Lower 9th Ward street in front of his house as Fats Domino Avenue.
