The District Court for the city and County of Denver, Colo., began hearing arguments this week in a case questioning whether the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prevents former President Donald Trump from appearing on the presidential ballot in the state. A lawsuit filed on behalf of six Colorado voters last month alleges that Trump's actions on Jan. 6, 2021, amounted to an "insurrection," making him ineligible to appear on the ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk in Amarillo, Texas, determined that Planned Parenthood must go to trial over a $1.8 billion lawsuit by Texas accusing the corporation of defrauding the state's Medicaid program. At issue is whether the abortion giant committed fraud by obtaining state funding and failing to repay after the Lone Star State terminated the organization from its Medicaid program. Read more.

The San Francisco Police Department responded on Sunday evening to reports of a person brandishing a knife and assaulting someone at Saints Peter and Paul Church in North Beach. Daniel Garcia, 42, allegedly fled the scene and tossed "two improvised explosive devices out of the car window at pursuing officers." Read more.
