How a man's overgrown lawn led to a standoff with police, resulting in a massive fire, and his death Image Source: Austin Fire Department A man's overgrown lawn led to his death this week, after he began firing shots at officers on the premises. Police accompanied the city officials cutting the grass without the homeowner's permission.
A five-hour standoff began just after 9 a.m.
Just before 3:30 that afternoon, officials realized a fire had started inside the home.
Not long after that, the man opened his garage door. He was apparently carrying weapons at this time.

Police say that 22-year-old Abigail Saldana had been fatally shot while she was driving on Tuesday, and they have arrested 54-year-old Stanley Szeliga in connection to the incident.
"This was literally on my car like this," the victim had said in an Instagram video, not long before her death. "This is why you have to be careful. I don't know what to do moving forward with this. But this definitely looks like a tracker to me."
The woman's mother said she told her daughter to report the device, but it's unclear whether or not Saldana actually followed her mother's advice.
How did Saldana know the suspect, if at all?
