Good evening, Now for some good news. More than half the population has antibodies to help them fight the Covid-19 virus - either through vaccination or because they have had and survived the virus. Given that we have started to open up parts of society this week and given that we have an Easter weekend approaching (with a bit of sunshine to boot) there is a clamour for the Prime Minister to bring forward his plans and to release more restrictions earlier. Then our economy could start to recover and we could begin to get back to normal life again. That’s the theory, anyway. But as our top health advisors Prof Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Valance have said again this week, we rush into this at our peril. While the vaccination programme has been a success, half the population is still not vaccinated. Those people could easily cause transmissions to increase along with a greater likelihood of variants which may not be affected by vaccines. So let’s stay calm, carry on as we are and look forward to more fun in the future.
