How a town became Louisiana's 'Little Italy'

When most people think of Louisiana heritage, they probably think French, Cajun, Creole or Haitian. But for some rural Louisiana towns, it's the Italian roots that run deepest. 

For this 11-mile stretch between the Amite and Tickfaw, Italian festivals are a proud display of that heritage. This story explains the history, and how it's being celebrated today.  


COVID caused a lot of Louisiana private schools to lose students, but things have started to rebound, new data shows. And within that recovery there is a clear trend: Suburban and rural Christian schools are growing the fastest.
