Hey, Back in 2011... After almost a decade long manhunt... The members of SEAL Team 6 were gearing up for one of the biggest missions of their life. ...The hunt for Osama Bin Laden. In the months before the mission... The entire team got together and went over every possible point of failure and contingency plan for what they would do if and when the stuff hit the fan. "What happens if we get caught by the Pakistani military?" "What happens if he isn't there?" "What happens if they try to blow up the entire compound once we get there?" After days of going over the "what ifs" over and over again... The senior Chief leading the team opened up the floor and asked the operators one last time if there were any other possibilities they hadn't considered. ...The youngest Team guy raised his hand and asked, "What do we do if one of our helicopters goes down?" Everyone in the room laughed at his "dumb idea"... ...EXCEPT for the Chief. Who'd been through enough missions to know that anything that can go wrong... probably will. He thanked the young Operator for his input and instructed the team to come up with a plan for what they would do if their chopper went down... And it's a good thing they did... Because that's EXACTLY what happened. If that Chief hadn't had the foresight to take the youngest team member's input seriously... ...The mission would have failed and it's likely that many of the team members would have died. But because he knew how to lead... they had a clear plan of action and the mission was a success. A lot of times in life and business... It's easy to think that you've got it all figured out.
