Today is the 85th birthday of Great Smoky Mountains National Park! The park contains a large piece of the southern Appalachian forest and some of the richest biological diversity in the country with more than 100 species of native trees, more than 1,500 flowering plants, and 200 species of birds.
On September 7, Team Sierra is celebrating Great Smoky Mountains National Park by participating in the Great Smoky Mountains Half Marathon & 5K. Until then, teammates are working hard to raise money to help Sierra Club do things like protect public lands and the species that inhabit them. The race takes place outside park boundaries in Townsend, Tennessee, so you get the amazing views with no worry of disturbing the beautiful, protected lands.
If you’re not ready to sign up yet, leave your information here or reply to this e-mail and someone from our team will be in touch with more information.
Happy Birthday, Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
Best,
Jessica Dean
