How Children Grieve | “Children are resilient.” So goes the cliché. It’s something I’ve repeated myself, probably for reassurance, when my own children experience something difficult. It may be true—but they’re also vulnerable. And they process loss and trauma differently than adults. It’s an important topic explored in this conversation between Daniel Harrell and Clarissa Moll. As parents who have both lost spouses while they’re children were still young, Harrell and Moll possess what Richard Rohr called “the authority of those who have suffered.” If you have a child in your life who is experiencing grief, their reflections and advice will be well worth your time. Also, check out our resource on Ministering to Children of Divorce. When a marriage ends, children suffer. But God can redeem even the most tragic situations. |
