How could these high school students earn a four-day school week?

In an effort to improve student performance in the classroom, Baker High School will implement a program this fall that offers a tempting reward: Juniors and seniors who meet a short list of objectives will be able to stay home every Friday.

Superintendent J.T. Stroder says the idea received an enthusiastic response when he presented it to students.


A bill in the state House would make libraries at K-12 public schools subject to obscenity laws, apparently over concerns about children being exposed to graphic sexual material.

The author of the bill, Republican Rep. Beryl Amedée from Gray, could provide no examples of obscene books in K-12 school libraries.
