The extent to which Democratic Party splits over Israel will influence the upcoming congressional and presidential elections is unknown, but the primaries provide useful insights. In a new analysis, Elaine Kamarck, Anna Heetderks, and Emily Rusting find that the winning Democratic primary candidates are mainly pro-Israel, with some who would like to see the United States try to enforce a ceasefire.
The mental health of older adults. Aging into older adulthood introduces many mental health stressors, such as physical decline, losses of loved ones, and reduced mental acuity. In a new paper, Vani Agarwal, Richard G. Frank, and Chloe Zilkha examine the mental health landscape of older Americans and share recommendations to better address the group’s needs.
Regulating AI in health care. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology recently finalized a rule which mandates updated AI transparency mechanisms in health information technologies. While the rule makes significant progress toward responsible AI use in the health sector, it has limitations, Niam Yaraghi, Azizi A. Seixas, and Ferdinand Zizi emphasize.
