We asked and you responded. When we asked for your reactions to Netflix's new adaptation of Jane Austen's "Persuasion" yesterday, you did not hold back.
Utah Today reader Christie N. said, "I heard the Persuasion adaptation was coming out so I reread the book after many years. It was wonderful. Then I watched the trailer. It made me want to scream it was so horrible."
KSL.com reporter Ashley Imlay said, "I really liked it! ... Anne in previous versions was annoyingly stoic and unrelatable to me."
Some of you also replied with your nominations for best book-to-screen adaptations:
Lisa A. from Salt Lake City said "The Help" was very true to the book, and "To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of the rare films that is as good as the book.
Frank P. from Salt Lake City said, "Killing Eve" and "The Lord of the Rings" are both fantastic, but his favorite adaptation is "The Godfather" because the "movie excels at everything."
And now you have a list of shows and books to check out over the weekend!
All four Utah Congressmen joined in a bipartisan effort to vote for the Respect for Marriage Act.
Citing the Supreme Court's statement that there is no intention to overturn gay couples' right to marry, Rep. John Curtis, R-Utah, said, "I also understand how important codifying these protections are to many Utahns. I do not believe the federal government should infringe upon an individual’s decision about who they wish to marry.”
