Senator Mike Lee is advocating on behalf of Lt. Ridge Alkonis who is currently serving a three-year sentence in Japan for causing a car accident which killed an 85-year-old woman and her 54-year-old son-in-law in May of 2021. U.S. Navy investigators determined that Alkonis suffered from acute car sickness while taking his family sightseeing, lost consciousness and lost control of the car. Sen. Lee is asking for President Joe Biden to meet with Alkonis’ wife and listen to her story.

How Lindsey Graham’s 15-week abortion ban compares to other countries’ laws

South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced a bill banning abortion nationwide after 15 weeks of pregnancy. For many in his own party, this came as surprising news especially considering its timing with Roe v. Wade being struck down by the Supreme Court and how this poises Democrats to brand it as a nationwide abortion ban. However, Graham’s proposal is actually nowhere near as extreme as one might think. His bill is actually comparable to the laws in place in many European nations.
