Wegmans is nearing full phase-out of single-use plastic shopping bags

We asked: Is this the right move? (And is it realistic?)

You answered:

Lee Kane, former Whole Foods employee
I hate to appear uncharitable. This is of course to be applauded and appreciated. However, allow me to point out that Whole Foods Market took this step chain-wide in 2008. I calculate that billions of single use plastic bags were avoided/eliminated in the intervening almost 14 years, and have to wonder why it has taken other chains, which have sung their own praises fairly loudly over the years, so long to get going on this?

Lucas M. Finzi, Dollar General
...More than half of single-use plastics that are utilized in retail are shopping bags, especially for high-volume stores like Wegmans.

Mike Kester, Kings Food Markets
It’s not about completely eliminating plastic. It’s about eliminating as much as possible.
