1. STARS BRING CAMP TO THE MET GALA: The annual Met Gala took place on Monday, drawing stars to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York dressed in outfits to fit the theme of “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” On a pink carpet, co-chair Lady Gaga gave a nearly 20-minute burlesque-style performance that included three outfit reveals after arriving in her hot pink Brandon Maxwell gown. Other stars included Janelle Monae, Harry Styles, Billy Porter, Kacey Musgraves, and Serena Williams. Women’s Wear Daily: “This year’s attendees were relatively tamer—and a bit more random—than in years past, with celebrities like Rihanna and Beyoncé sitting out fashion’s big night—as well as some of the designers who had taken tables in the past. Gaga’s co-host Harry Styles was all business as he arrived with Alessandro Michele of this year’s sponsor Gucci, giving barely a smile to the press as he headed inside. Jared Leto, also repping team Gucci, followed suit not long after with an alarming take on camp: He carried a replica of his own head.”

2. MEGHAN MARKLE GIVES BIRTH TO ROYAL BABY: The birth of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first baby was announced Monday. A framed notice of birth of the Duchess of Sussex’s son was placed on a ceremonial easel in front of Buckingham Palace. People: “Just as when cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were born, the traditional framed bulletin was brought out of the Privy Purse Door and carried across the forecourt, to be placed on the easel in front of the Queen’s residence. Although royal births are now announced on social media (Harry and Meghan announced their baby’s arrival on their new Instagram account!), the tradition of announcing the birth outside of Buckingham Palace on an ornate golden easel still remains. … Royal fans will get to see the happy couple with their new baby soon after the birth. Within a few days after welcoming their first child, Meghan and Harry will take part in a photo op with their new baby on the grounds of Windsor Castle.”

3. FYRE FESTIVAL FOUNDER TO SELF-PUBLISH A MEMOIR: Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland plans to tell his side of the story with a self-published memoir. McFarland, who is serving six years in federal prison, is writing a book titled Promythus: The God of Fyre. Los Angeles Times: “McFarland's book will reportedly tell the story of his early days as an entrepreneur as well as the Fyre Festival saga. He said he was influenced by Jordan Belfort, the disgraced stockbroker whose memoir The Wolf of Wall Street formed the basis for a hit Martin Scorsese film. McFarland apparently intends his book to be an answer to two 2019 documentaries, Fyre Fraud and Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, about the aborted festival and its fallout. McFarland believes the films didn't tell the ‘raw’ story about what happened, although he said he has not actually seen either movie.”
