Understanding the Different Cinematic Versions of Spider-Man

Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man (2002).Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
But there is a problem with understanding our cultural love of Peter Parker: We all think we know what's best.

Trump Allegedly Offered Julian Assange a Pardon If He’s Just Cover-Up All That Nasty Hacking He Did for Trump

Julian Assange throwing up a peace sign after he was arrested
Lawyers claims that Assange was offered a pardon at the behest of the president if he'd only just, you know, provide evidence that Russia didn't hack and interfere with the US election in 2016.

I Wish Mike Bloomberg Would Take His Own Advice and Drop out of the Race

Democratic presidential candidate for US and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg looks into the camera at a campaign event.
Democratic primary latecomer Mike Bloomberg's campaign has Very Serious Concerns about there being too many moderates in the race, and they think the solution is for those lagging behind to drop out to consolidate support behind one candidate (read: Mike Bloomberg) to defeat frontrunner Bernie Sanders. That's a bold claim from the campaign of a guy who has so far gotten *checks notes* 0 actual votes.

Anna Netrebko’s Return to Aida at The Met Is a Great Reason to Talk Opera and Race

From Aida to Turnadot, how do we adapt but still honor an art form that has some pretty racist elements?

We Could Be Getting a … Mysterio Movie?

Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio / Quentin Beck in Spider-Man: Far From Home
The last we saw of Mysterio, he died, but not before ruining Peter Parker's life and lying to the entire public using J. Jonah Jameson.

Legends of Tomorrow proved again last night that they are truly a show "a head" of their time when they paid a visit to the French revolution, and Zari 2.0 proved there's a place on the Waverider for an influencer ... but also that too much influence and adoration can be a bad thing.

Why Zoë Kravitz’s Rob Is a Great (and Messy) Character in the High Fidelity Show

Zoë Kravitz and her co-stars in High Fidelity (2020)
Watching the Hulu series High Fidelity was a delicious experience. It was wonderfully shot, the music was wonderful and made me add a lot of stuff to my playlist, and Zoë Kravitz as Rob is a fashion icon that will go down for all time. But in terms of the writing, by gender-swapping the character of Rob from a white straight cis-man to a biracial Black queer woman we get a really interesting character in the form of Rob.
