Got that smoke, 'Kamila's mommy' and the Stones make up for 2019
By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor GOT THAT SMOKE: It had to be suspicious when a small fire broke out at the vacant house that Beyoncé owns in New Orleans' Garden District. One neighbor, after all, said he hadn't seen any activity inside in two years. Sure enough, investigators found a gasoline can inside the house and books in an oven. And around the same time that a smoke alarm alerted authorities of the fire, police logged a report of a suspicious person right around the corner. 'KAMILA'S MOMMY': Elaine Staes wants you to remember her daughter, Alliyah Staes, 19, as a devoted mother to a toddler, with a second child on the way - not for being killed with a hammer and a knife at the Gentilly house of her unborn child's father. MAKING UP FOR 2019: What a surprise it was when the Rolling Stones were announced Thursday as headliners for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Even Jazz Fest staff and board members didn't see it coming. Now producer Quint Davis explains how Jazz Fest pulled it off. All this and much more are in today’s Front Page and on NOLA.com. Thanks for starting your day with us. D.B. |
