Lewis Hamilton is now, statistically-speaking at least, the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time. What an incredible achievement, and he deserves all the accolades.

It makes you wonder how many races he will go on to win. It’s not beyond the bounds of reason to suggest that he’ll win all the remaining races in 2020, which would put him on 97. And then the 100 barrier would be within reach in early ’21.

He was asked (again) in Portugal about how many years he has left in him and replied “it’s definitely not going to be a long time before I stop”. At the age of 35, he could go on for some time yet, but his recent dealings in the fashion world, and high-profile activism for causes, makes you think that his next contract will be his last.

Neither he nor Mercedes shows any signs of slowing down, however, so don’t expect their dominance to cease any time soon.
