At the end of each year, I’m always amazed by how just quickly 12 months can go by. And with a year packed full of cannabis news–both good and perhaps some not-so-good–2022 has seemed to pass especially fast. This year’s main cannabis headline may very well be President Joe Biden’s call to reexamine cannabis’s status on the list of controlled substances. But with three more states legalizing adult-use cannabis and the DEA acknowledging seeds are legal to sell across state lines, the industry made great strides in its movement toward reform in 2022. (I’d be remiss to not mention the market downturn the industry has also weathered this year, but I’m confident this road bump is only temporary.) You can check out more of this year’s top news here. For me, however, the best part of the new year isn’t looking back, but rather looking ahead at the good things to come. While I’m sure the industry has great things in store for 2023, I know we at Cannabis Business Times do, too. On Jan. 1, we will be debuting our website redesign, which will make it easier for you to engage with our stories and our brands. Throughout next year, we’ll also be announcing new additions to our Cannabis Conference (Aug.15-17 | Las Vegas), which you can keep up with on our conference website. We will, of course, also be continuing our coverage of the latest cannabis news and cultivation topics to keep you informed and help boost your businesses as much as possible in the new year and beyond. For now, though, let’s enjoy what’s left of 2022 knowing that your work has made a positive difference in peoples’ lives this year. - Theresa Bennett, Editor |
