NATIONAL: Celebrity chef Todd English and global entrepreneur Keith Burkard have announced their newest joint venture: EHG, The English Hospitality Group. The new company features dozens of restaurants, hotels, nightlife venues and ghost kitchens, both domestically and internationally. Highlights include the first location of the English Hotel Chain, launching in Las Vegas in March, plus Todd English Food Hall, an upcoming 80,000-square-foot venue and art exhibition in Stamford, Conn.
LAS VEGAS: Fifteen-year Las Vegas hospitality executive Tony Yousfi has been appointed senior vice president of sales, catering and conference service for the upcoming Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Yousfi is leading the resort’s conference and convention division, including sales, catering, conference services, leisure sales, special events, group dining and convention marketing. Fontainebleau Las Vegas is slated to open in 2023 with 3,700 rooms and more than 550,000 square feet of convention space.
LOS ANGELES:Mardi Gras returns to the Original Farmers Market in Los Angeles with its 32nd annual celebration. The event, which will be held from Feb. 26-27 and on March 1, will have free entertainment and activities for children. Throughout the celebration, the Gumbo Pot’s West Patio location will be serving its down-home Cajun cooking, including jambalaya, gumbo and po boys.
NEW YORK:The National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala will be held on March 15 on Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The National Board of Review’s awards celebrate the art of cinema, with categories that include best picture, best director, best actor and actress, best original and adapted screenplay, breakthrough performance and directorial debut, as well as its signature honors: the freedom of expression award and outstanding achievement in cinematography.
WASHINGTON, DC: The AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy yard is officially open. The property boasts 11 stories of 225 guest rooms and is topped with a rooftop restaurant and bar, Smoke & Mirrors. There is over 3,000 square feet of meeting space with ample space for co-working, intimate weddings and professional gatherings.
