NATIONAL: Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI) has recently named Silvia Zamora as its new vice president of meeting design and experience. Zamora, who previously worked at global travel agency network Virtuoso, will lead and accelerate the company’s vision for meetings and events in partnership with more than 250 member hotels. 

NEW YORK: Due to the pandemic, this summer’s Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research Angel Ball will move to Southampton. The event, taking place on Aug. 20 at The Muses, will feature both a live and silent auction and will be hosted by foundation co-founder Denise Rich and her daughters, Daniella Rich Kilstock and Ilona Rich Schachter. 

PHOENIX/SCOTTSDALE: In September, the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown plans to debut the new Carcara restaurant, led by executive chef Chaz Frankenfield and offering a locally sourced menu influenced by traditions of the Southwest. The eatery will have 7,000 square feet of dining space, including a 2,000-square-foot outdoor patio, with space for up to 276 guests; there will also be three private dining rooms. The newly renovated Sheraton Phoenix Downtown is Arizona’s largest hotel, offering more than 110,000 square feet of event space.

SAN DIEGO: The Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine has a new general manager, hospitality veteran Todd McAninch, who most recently served as general manager for Hyatt Centric Park City. Also starting a new position as executive chef is Laura De Martin, previously the executive chef at Andaz San Diego and Hyatt Regency Mission Bay. The 416-room hotel, which has 42,000 square feet of event space, recently finalized a $10 million renovation.

SEATTLE: CORT Party Rental has expanded its CORT Tenting Solutions Business. Previously available near Seattle, the business will now be available in additional areas of Washington, as well as Oregon, Idaho and Northern California. The company is also inviting event planners in the area to learn more about CORT Pro Services, a turnkey temporary power and electrical distribution provider available throughout the state.
