1. BOB WOODRUFF FOUNDATION HOLDS 13TH ANNUAL STAND UP FOR HEROES: The Bob Woodruff Foundation raised over $5.7 million in support of veterans Monday night at its annual Stand Up For Heroes event. Held at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, the 13th annual night of comedy and music included appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Sheryl Crow, and other entertainers. The event served as the kickoff to the New York Comedy Festival, which will take place November 4 to 10 in venues across the city.

2. AFI FEST TO HONOR MARTIN SCORSESE: Though currently in some hot water with film industry peers after saying Marvel superhero movies were “not cinema,” Martin Scorsese will receive a tribute November 15 at AFI Fest. Set to take place at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the event will feature a conversation with the legendary director and a screening of his latest movie, The Irishman. The Hollywood Reporter: “Martin Scorsese is an American master,” said AFI president and C.E.O. Bob Gazzale. “It is a profound honor for AFI to bring movie lovers together for one night to stand and celebrate this visionary storyteller, whose passion for cinema echoes from film preservation to the advancement of the art form.”

3. AIRBNB FOCUSES ON UNIQUE LODGING EXPERIENCES: After generating innovative marketing campaigns in the past, Airbnb is now reaching a fever pitch. The home sharing giant previously has partnered with Oscar Meyer to offer up a themed stay in the famous Wienermobile, with Mattel for a stay in a life-size version of Malibu Barbie’s Dreamhouse, and more. Coming up this month, two fans of Downtown Abbey can stay at Highclere Castle, the home of the show. The New York Times: “I think a lot of brands, in the future, they need to be in the business of making news, not just advertising,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb’s chief executive. “And to make news you have to do something that is worth somebody reporting about.”
