On February 22, join ArchiveSocial and the Miami Police Department for an interactive discussion about how they use social media to engage with the community they serve, and why social media records archiving is essential for legal protection under Florida Public Records law. Last year, the Miami Police Department launched a vlog series on its YouTube channel and saw great results. The series gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at everyday police work, which fosters community and police relations by letting residents get to know the officers who serve them. Sergeant Misael Reyes and Nick Perez will share a brief history of the Miami Police Department’s social media, and cover how these platforms helped them reach their audience in new ways. They’ll also discuss the legal side of social media, including a records request related to the high-profile arrest of a college football player.
