Balancing Yourself
A study in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found that individuals who get less than seven hours of sleep tended to snack more often -- usually with high-calorie snacks with little nutritional value -- compared with those who sleep more than seven hours per day. Lead researcher Christopher Taylor, PhD, RDN, explains that "not only are we not sleeping when we stay up late, but we're doing all these obesity-related behaviors: lack of physical activity, increased screen time, food choices that we're consuming as snacks and not as meals."
