The Creativity Challenge
Teaching Students To Think Outside the Box

How do you define creativity? Rather than an inherent characteristic, creativity is a skill that can be learned and fostered in every discipline. Engineers are often described as linear problem-solvers, but Olin College of Engineering has a new approach: educate and graduate creative students who are able to envision how they can improve the world.

The Chronicle's issue brief, The Creativity Challenge, explores how colleges can incorporate interdisciplinary courses into their programs and encourage students to find new and innovative ways to problem-solve.
