Our second trade show of 2022 has just wrapped up! Thank you for joining Archiware's Dr. Marc Batschkus and David Fox at the Media Production & Technology Show in London.
We were excited to show you the P5 Data Mover, which extends the P5 Archive module with policy-based moving and copying of archived data between tape, cloud and disk storage.

Lower Security Settings on Apple Mac with M-Series Silicon to Load ATTO Drivers in macOS
Apple M-Series Silicon products have a security setting that will disable third party kernel extension drivers by default. This setting needs to be changed within the Mac’s Startup Security Utility to allow for third party kext drivers to be installed. Our friends at ATTO have assembled a helpful Technical Bulletin to help you achieve this.
Backblaze Drive Stats for Q1 2022
Backblaze have just published their most recent hard drive statistics for the first quarter of 2022. Their report dives into the latest data on over 200,000 hard drives, including quarterly and lifetime results on which drives work best in our environment. Along the way, Backblaze shares their observations and insights on the data presented.
Deploying P5 in the Cloud
Archiware has flexible support for a variety of cloud storage services in both the Backup and Archive modules. Those wishing to run cloud-based instances of Archiware P5 can log in to Amazon Web Services and easily deploy Archiware's Linux-based AMI. Included is an Archiware P5 version 7 installation, which can be set up in minutes.
No additional physical server is required on premises. The P5 server is located at AWS and is activated at the AWS Marketplace by Amazon. The image is pre-configured and contains all that is needed.
After entering the license, this P5 server behaves like a local machine and can connect to any cloud storage, whether Amazon or otherwise. This means increased flexibility and attractive price ranges when using Backblaze B2, Wasabi or any other cloud storage.
Login is possible from anywhere. Local machines can act as clients to be a data source for Backup and Archive. Any computer can log in to browse and search the Backup and Archive. Just bring your own license to enter it into the P5 server at AWS.
